夢十夜 第六夜 運慶は生きていた

運慶が護国寺山門の仁王像を刻んでいると言う・・・

見ているのは、自分と同じく、明治の人間だ。
その１人から、
「運慶は木に埋まっている仁王像を取り出しているだけ・・・」
と聞いた。
自分は、薪を片つ端から彫つて見たが、
どれもこれも仁王を蔵しているのはなかった。
ついに、明治の木には到底 仁王は埋っていないものだ、と悟った。
それで運慶が今日迄生きている理由もほぼ解った。
